Hi Mom,
One week to go. I was checking out the weather.... Good news, bad news
- I think the weather will be fine for traveling. But it's not looking
great for skiing. They don't make snow at Powder Mountain and it only
has. 15" base. Snow Basin has about a 37" base. But at least we'll
all be together :-)
We went to the Christmas concert at church tonight Theresa was a part
of the festivities. I'll send you a link to the video.
Now we are sitting here watching "The Help". I checked out all the
other movies you asked about and they are all too new to be on Netflix
or even Redbox.
I watched the Broncos today. Their luck finally ran out :-(. It wasn't
really Tebow's fault. They had too many turnovers and penalties.
Missouri was on too but they were in a blowout over William & Mary so
I didn't watch it.
Yesterday I spent all day in bed sick. A bad head cold snuck up on me
starting Friday afternoon. I think I'm kicking it just in time to head
back to work. But at least I have it out of the way before our trip.
I hope I haven't given it to any one else.
The girls are glad to be out of school. I'm finished with BSF for the
year as well. Theresa and I have to finish up our work week then
Christmas and traveling. Yeah, can't wait.
Well I'm going to sign off for now to pay attention to the help.
Luv u,
Jeff

Hi Mom,

We've had a busy week. Monday BSF. Tuesday girls night out.  Wednesday Megan's choir concert. Thursday music practice. Friday CU vs. WY basketball. Saturday Christmas party. Sunday church day.   Whew. Sounds like a Carolie week.

Megan did great at the concert and at her audition for Fidler on the Roof. She didn't get 'called back' which the teacher said was a good thing. She'll find out tomorrow if she got a part. Fingers crossed.

Chloe has been studying hard for finals. They start on Tuesday with physics & math, Wednesday is history & lit., Thursday is photography. Then she is done. Off on Friday.

I have a new guy starting at work tomorrow. It'll be good to be fully staffed again. I'm a little nervous about training him since I'm still pretty new myself. But the rest of the team will help get him up to speed too.

The basketball game of Friday night was fun. Riley Grabau, one of the stars of the Boulder High basketball team last year ended up, going to Wyoming. So it was his homecoming. Chloe said we should go at the last minute. So just the girls and I went over and bought GA tickets (Megan got a free ticket from some passerby).  It was a pretty good crowd but we still ended up sitting mid-court pretty close down. Colorado really blew it and ended up losing pretty big. Riley didn't play at all. But it was still a good time.

Last night was a Christmas party at one of Theresa's friends house. An interesting mixture of church people and non-church people. It was a nice evening. Drinks, hors d'oeuvres,  and deserts.

Once again, I've watched a bunch of sports this week too. Missouri vs. Villanova  & Navy basketball... 9-0 and ranked #10 in the country. Army Navy game. Too many mistakes for Army. And then of course today - Tebow time. I can't believe how the exciting watching the Denver Broncos is with Tim Tebow leading them to victory at the last second. Today's game was incredible. You'll have to check out the highlights.

We just watched "Their eyes were watching God" with Hallie Berry  - an Oprah Winfrey made for TV movie. It's based on a book that Chloe has been reading for lit class. She needed a little refresher :-)

Well that's all I know for now.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

We've had a good week.  Ken and Mona went on their merry way on Monday after a great stay.  They made it to Salina and then finished up on Tuesday morning - home safe and sound.

Monday night was BSF - taking a detour from studying Acts into Hebrews.  That's some heavy sledding.

Theresa got the results from her Dr's appointment last Friday - all clear.  Whew - thankful for good health.

Megan has been preparing her audition for the middle school spring musical (Fiddler on the Roof).  She is going to sing "On My Own" from Les Miserables.  She also has a choir concert coming up on Wednesday.

We got quite a bit of snow on Thursday and then a lot more on Saturday.  Good for skiing - keep it coming.  Not so fun shoveling though :-(

Chloe went out to dinner and bowling with friends on Friday night.

Theresa is now working 1 day/month at church doing the administrative stuff that needs to get done before, during and after the services.  She went in this morning early for training.

I just finished watching the Broncos.  That Tim Tebow is amazing.  He finds a way to win every time.  I guess God is on his side and is a Broncos fan.  Explains why sunsets are orange and blue.  I've also been keeping up with Tigers basketball.  7-0 now.... wow didn't expect that after we lost our big man Lawrence Bowers and the new coach, Frank Haith, under fire.

I spoke with an old college/fraternity brother, Bob Kinton, yesterday.  He lives in Chicago now with his wife and kids (4 boys - ranging from 1st grade to sophomore in college @ MU).  He found a job lead at Vail Resorts and I know the recruiter there so I was able to put them in touch with each other.  We have kept in touch over the years but it was fun to have good long catch up on the phone.

Work is going well.  Still feel like the new guy with so much to learn.  But, I'm getting there and feel like I'm fitting in and starting to make a difference.

We are headed out to the mall here in a little bit to do some Christmas shopping.  Hope it isn't too crazy out there.  We've been getting into the spirit.  I told you I put up the outside lights on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  Theresa has all the thanksgiving decorations down now and the christmas tree is up.  She's got all the decoration boxes up from downstairs and is getting to those a little at a time.

Can't wait to be together after Christmas - only a few weeks away now.  We still need to get together with Julie to talk through food.  We'll figure it out!

Okay - that's it for now.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

Just catching up after a good long holiday break.  I took Wednesday off and then Thursday/Friday were holidays for Thanksgiving.  So, It was a nice 5-day weekend.

We had a great time with Ken and Mona.  They got in around 12N on Wednesday and left this morning around 8:45am.  We watched a lot of football, played dominos, watched movies, ate and went on a couple of drives.  Thursday we ate around 2pm after Theresa prepared all day - funny to fix for 6 hours then to eat it all up in 10 minutes.  We watched the Greenbay/Detroit game on Thursday, Tigers/Jayhawks on Saturday, and Denver/San Diego + KC/Pittsburgh on Sunday.  Saturday night we watched Secretariat - good one to watch again.  On Friday we took a ride in the Prius around Boulder - new neighborhoods, church, CU, Boulder High, Centennial.  Saturday Chloe drove us up into the mountains - Nederland, Eldora, Ward - the roads were surprisingly snowy higher up.  We tried to head to the theater on Saturday afternoon to see "The Descendants" but it was sold out.  The girls stayed and saw "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" and the adults just went home.  Sunday morning I played at church for both services.  Ken and Mona went to mass at Sacred Heart then met up with Theresa and Megan for breakfast at IHOP afterwards.

The girls and I put up our Christmas lights and Angels on Wednesday while waiting for Ken and Mona to arrive.  It was almost 70F so it was too nice a day to pass up climbing on the roof.

Chloe and Megan also went to check out the black Friday sales at 6:15am. Chris Leitz picked them up with Clara and dropped the girls off at Target first.  Then Marlys took them from Target to Flatiron Crossings Mall from around 8am to 1pm.  They were wiped out.  They came home with some finds but I don't think they were overly enamoured with Black Friday.  I guess they just had to experience it first hand.

Everybody is back to the routine today. Theresa had some doctor appts down this way today so I met up with her for a hotdog lunch at Costco.

I'm sure there are a million other details too but....

Jeff

Hi Mom,

Nothing much to report on here....

Theresa has been a busy bee cleaning for Ken and Mona's arrival.  We are excited that they decided to come out for Thanksgiving.  I think they will drive on Tuesday, stay the night somewhere and arrive on Wednesday - and then depart the following Tuesday.  I think I might try to take Wednesday off to add on to the Thurs/Fri holidays.

Looks like mixed results on our football teams UofA, MU win, KU, CU, Army lose.  Missouri Basketball tonight on TV against Notre Dame.  I've got the DVR set up for that since I have BSF tonight.

I played on the worship team yesterday.  And Theresa helped with Operation Christmas child afterwards.  Megan went to 29th street shopping with Clara and then to her gymnastics meet - she was gone from 12-9pm.  Meanwhile, Chloe slept all day.  I guess she was just wiped out from school and now has the thanksgiving break to catch up a little.

Don't know much more than that :-)

Hi Mom,
A few things I didn't mention in my weekly update....

Reading all the news about Gary Pinkel getting busted for a DWI :-(  Oh dear.  I have to say he handled it well.  Took his punish, was sincerely apologetic and assumed full responsibility.  Missouri needs a win or two against Texas Tech and/or Kansas.  They've had an uneven year.

Also, Theresa and I watched the 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer on Gabby Gifford.  AMAZING!  Wow, what she's come through in 1 year.  We really enjoyed watching it - laughed and cried and were inspired.

My friend who's daughter (Laura Triem) was hit by the light rail train is going through serious brain trauma.  They had to open up both the left and right side of her skull to release pressure and they are fighting some infections.  She is in an induced coma.  But they have moved her out of ICU so that's positive.

Well - those popped into my head and I thought I would write with a quick update.

We were in last night with Megan (Chloe went over to a friends house) and watched "That Thing You Do" - fun movie!  Not sure what we'll get up to today.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

Just a quick update since I didn't write last weekend.

Friday night we had a fun outing with the Lietz's.  We went to Noodles and Company for dinner and then to Fairview High School's musical production "All Shook Up" based on Elvis Presley music.  It was really fun and so well done.  They always do an amazing job.

I guess Colorado was the better of the two lousy football teams on Saturday (CU 48 UofA 29).  It was windy - 75 mph winds!  Missouri had an upset win over Texas.  The real football talk around hear has been the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow.  You can't go 5 seconds without hearing "TEBOW" - love him or hate him.  I didn't watch any football this weekend.  I've kind of been following the beginning of college basketball.  KU lost last night to UK.

It was Theresa's birthday weekend and she wanted to go to IKEA.  What an experience.  It's huge - kinda like the disney land of modern furniture.  They funnel you through a specific traffic pattern and dump you out in the gift shop :-0  Afterwards we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and pigged out (so much so that i was kinda sick later in the evening).

6351883570_c1f6b2fcb2.jpg6351882466_d2ffcc8e11.jpg

Sunday was a fun Sunday at Calvary.  It was pledge card Sunday for the Building Fund drive.  They had a special extended music worship time with the band and a praise choir.  I played in the band and Theresa and Megan sang in the choir.

Megan went to school with Chloe on Monday morning to shadow her.  Getting a feel for High School.  She'll have to decide between Boulder High as her home school or open-enrolling at Fairview.  I think she's leaning towards Fairview.

Monday night I didn't go to BSF so I could hang with the girls on Theresa's actual birthday.  She's sporting a brand new iPhone 4S as her main present.  Along with lots of cards, money, flowers, lunches, dinners....  I think she was feeling special :-)

We went to pick up our 'pilot' car last night.  It's a yet-to-be-release Toyota Prius that is a combination plug-in electric/hybrid vehicle.  We get to drive it until January 17th.  I brought it to work today... averaging over 100 mpg.  It's kinda weird when it's running on battery only - it doesn't make any sound at all.  It will be interesting to see how the program goes.

Well that's all I know for now.  I know I leave out lots of details - but it's amazing how quickly I forget what happened yesterday much less last week!

Hi Mom,

I was busy last week. But mostly I just forgot :-(. Thanks for news on Tom Shrader's wife. I hadn't heard that. I'm still listening to his 'tapes' (CDs now really - but when I started listening they were cassette tapes :-).  They are a bit delayed so he hasn't mentioned anything in the current set of lessons I have in the car. She got to see a lot of things before she died - weddings and grandbabies. I know he thinks it's a celebration that she's with the Lord. But still hard.

Theresa's next door neighbor, Paul Bowman, died last week as well.  He was an interesting individual - the obituary describes a lot of the things he did.  I was amazed at all the different jobs. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/kansascity/obituary.aspx?n=PAUL-BOWMAN&pid=154290889

We've had a couple of snows since I last wrote. The first one was 12" and the second one was 7". Both on Tuesday night into wednesday morning. They are predicting some more for this week too. It was really wet, heavy snow bringing down a lot of branches. We lost an aspen tree out front. And some minor limbs in the back. There were still alot of leaves on the trees that the snow yanked down. Now I need the snow to melt so I can rake leaves.

6320418256_192cdea196.jpg

Chloe had her first mandatory 'behind the wheel' lesson today. She has to take 6 hours total. 2 today, 2 on tues, and 2 on thurs - then she's done. come January she'll be set to get her license. The intructor said she did great and he had no doubt she could pass the test today. This is just a formality. We've been driving together a lot so she is ready. He said some kids come with no driving experience at all.

Megan had a birthday party sleep over last night.  We don't usually do Sat/Sun sleep overs but it was a special occasion.  We went to her honor roll breakfast on Friday morning.  That was a fun way to honor her hard work and studies!

6320420574_5fba3c0bce.jpg

We talked with Steve and Julie last week to help them figure out flights for Christmas.  We'll probably be arriving and departing around the same time.  So, I'm not sure how we will sort out pickup and drop off for them.  It might have to be a shuttle.  But we'll figure it out.

Halloween last Monday was a pretty big deal as always.  I had to go out to BSF so I missed it.  But Chloe, Megan and friends did go out and cleaned up.  Theresa manned the home front and probably handed out over 400+ pieces of candy.  As I was going out, cars were parked up and down the main street bringing kids in from other neighborhoods.

6319895579_43e3145471.jpg6319885665_d038eba897.jpg

We watched a cute movie last night - "The Perfect Game"- about a Mexican team that won the little league world series in 1957.

I cleaned out the 3rd bay of the garage.  I don't know if I told you but we are participating in a study through the University of Colorado on electric hybrid cars.  We get to drive a plug-in Toyota Prius for free for 9 weeks.  We just have to write about our experience in an online journal weekly.

I think it's been over 5 weeks on the new job now and it's going great.  I'm finally starting to feel a little more comfortable and making a contribution.  I still have a lot to learn.  But so far so good and I'm enjoying it.  I also got all the rulings from the state of Colorado for my Intrado unemployment claim and vacation pay... the big corporate america company wins - no unemployment pay, they sided with them and no vacation pay, once again siding with the company.  Intrado won but in the end I think they lost their humanity.  I should start a protest - 'Occupy Intrado' :-)  the "1%" sticking it to the worker.  Oh well - moving on.

6319894153_f8afaa7243.jpg

Well that's all I know for know.  Good to catch up finally.  I still have to cram on my BSF for tomorrow night.

You probably will get this notice by e-mail, but I just wanted to make sure you knew this sad news----Tom Shrader's wife died(cancer).  She lived 2 years beyond the 5 year time frame they gave her.  So sad!!!
I am wondering if you will get more snow this weekend(?)
Dad said the game at West Point(Fordham) Army 45-Fordham 0 was a white out & snow almost up to their knees!!!!
I hiked today---not long hike at all(beautiful weather--up the top of Mt. Lemmon)---went to prayer time at 3p.m. & now off to Gas Light Theater.  I will always remember going for the first time with you all to celebrate Stu's 40th birthday.  Theresa wanted to join up right then.  Do you remember it?

Hi Mom.

Normal routine for the week :-)

I guess the things most fresh in my mind are...  We went to the Boulder High vs. Fairview football game on Friday night. Boulder got clobbered 38-3.  The big excitement of the night was 4 streakers racing across the field in the 3rd quarter.  Evidently they were Fairview students.  They got caught and were ticket for indecent exposure :-(

On Saturday morning Theresa and I went to a debt elimination seminar.  It was pretty interesting - a christian financial advisor, Bob Marette, taught the class.  His basic premise was to help you get out of debt (including your mortgage) in 3-5 years.  Our number was more like 10 years if we really followed his advice.  It definitely made us think and gave us some ideas to move forward with.

Chloe baby sat on Saturday morning and night.  Megan is starting to get over her soreness from the new braces.  Theresa went up to yarn shops in Ft. Collins with a friend on Friday morning.

We had amazing fall weather this weekend.  I got out for a bike ride and a run.  Watched a little football - CU getting crushed by Oregon, great Tebow comeback with the Broncos today.  I only saw the scores for Missouri and Kansas - not good.

Whew - that's all I know for now and it's late.  So, I'm headed to bed.

Hi Mom,

Happy Sunday night!  We got your post card yesterday - beautiful.  Hope you are having fun. Good on ya dad for keeping up :-)

We've had our normal routine week :-) BSF, girls night out, music practice/worship team, school, work, etc.

Chloe took the PSAT yesterday. She said the english part was easy and the math/science part was hard. We are working on Physics together for tutoring. I'm having to learn it all over again :-) She did go to the football game for a bit of fun on Friday night.

Megan has been working hard in school. It seems like she has way too much homework. She's been shopping on 29th St. with Clara for her fun.

3 weeks down on the job and it's going well. I got my first paycheck yesterday - that's nice to have in the bank!  Plus healthcare benefits have all kicked in.   Tomorrow Megan goes in for her braces - yikes - $5,400. My new insurance will cover $1,000 of it. That's better than before ($0). I'll get some pics posted of Megan's new HW.

I'm not sure where y'all are at right now or when you get home. Speak to you soon.

Hi Mom,

Time to get back in the swing.  Two weeks on the new job and it's going great!  There is a lot to learn and it will take time but I'm getting there.

6217637511_5404891ae4.jpg

I guess we had our first official snow yesterday.  It was more up in the mountains.  We had a cold rainy day all day and I think in the afternoon there may have been some big fluffy snow flakes.  But nothing that stuck down low.

Chloe went out to dinner with friends on Friday night and then went to see Moneyball.  Then she had two baby sitting jobs yesterday - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Megan went to Anderson Farms for the corn maze and haunted house on Friday night, had a sleep over at Claras and then spent all day Saturday just hanging out with her.  She is on cat duty for our neighbors too while they are out of town.  Theresa and I ran a couple of errands in the morning and then cozied in all day out of the cold wet weather.

Today was a bit nicer but still cool.  I got the yard mowed and leaves picked up.  I also borrowed John's compressor to blow out my sprinkler system. Theresa had to work at the church this morning helping out with baptisms.  Afterward she and Chloe went to the Safeway to pick a few things up.

Tough day for all of our football teams yesterday :-(  I watched a little bit of Nebraska's come back against Ohio State last night.  I've been fast forwarding through the Broncos game today.

We've watched a few movies the last couple of weeks.  We all went as a family last week to see Dolphin Tale (good) and then we've watched Rio (fun), The Town (average) and Thor (terrible) from Netflix.

I had BSF on Monday - week three in the book of Acts.  Theresa went to girl's night out with Desra on Tuesday.  We were all home on Wednesday night.  We both went to parent teacher conferences on Thursday night at Boulder High to meet with Chloe's teachers.

Well that's all I know for now.

Hi Mom and Dad,

Whew it's Sunday night another whirlwind week is coming to an end in time to start another one.

We have a greatbtime at the Lazy Dog Saloon watching the finale of Extreme Expedition. Both No Limits and the Gypsies were there. They managed to keep the winner a surprise. When the Gypsies forgot a back pack and when the Moroccan lock box was one of the puzzles I thought No Limits might surprise everybody and win. The place was packed and there was lots of cheering throughout the whole show. They did about 1hr of introduction stuff before the show started. The whole night was a fundraiser for Erik's charity.

Saturday morning we went over to set up for Celebration Sunday. We put up 1,000 chairs in the big top out on the lawn.  Then we came home and rested :-)

It was a fun day today. Both Erie and Boulder campuses worshipped together at 10am. Then hamburgers, hot dogs, sides, deserts afterwards. Theresa is sure glad to have that behind her.

I came home to mow the lawn. And took care of other chores today too - pay bills, change light bulbs, straighten out my office, do Desra's weekly plan, walk the dog, pack my gym bags for tomorrow, Intrado time sheets/reports/spreadsheets. Always something to do.

And now we are ready for bed at 8:30pm :-)

How was your Dr's appointment?  Did they figure anything out?  My ribs are still sore but I thunk finally turning the corner. I'm going to try to swim tomorrow.

Hi Mom,

Last weekend of freedom before school starts :-(  Megan actually went to school on Friday for Web Leader training - and then she goes on Monday to help with the 6th grader orientation.  First official day of school for both girls is Tuesday.  Here we go!

I'm still recovering from my ribs.  I've been taking it easy most of the week.  I give the last Stroke&Stride a try on Thursday night and then the Intrado 5K Fun Run was on Friday.  Other than that I'm just resting.  I'm still pretty uncomfortable sleeping.

We've watched a few movies recently.  "Barney's Verison" with Paul Giamatti.  Kinda slow but the ending did surprise us.  "Gullivers Travels" with Jack Black.  His normal craziness.

I had two guys quit from my team recently - their last day was Friday.  I'm actively trying to hire their replacements.  It will be tough to be short handed and they were both great guys so hard to lose them.  We had a going away lunch for them at The Cheesecake Factory in Boulder.  The portion sizes there are HUGE!

Theresa is busy at work getting everything ready for Celebration Sunday at church next weekend.  It's interesting to know all the behind the scenes prep work that goes into it.  It's a big deal.  She'll be ready for that to be over.

Chloe went to volleyball camp on Thursday/Friday/Saturday.  She's getting ready to try out for the Boulder High team (on Monday).  She also had a babysitting job on Friday night and she went out to dinner with some friends at the California Pizza Kitchen last night.  Her birthday is coming up next week!  She and Theresa have been planning an informal gathering over here with a few friends - grilling burgers and hotdogs, sleepover in the backyard in tents - should be fun.

Megan and Theresa went down Grandma Shields nursing home on Thursday night for a Luau celebration.

Yesterday was just a few errands (Costco, Tuesday Morning).  Megan spent the afternoon at 29th Street with Clara.  Church today.  and that's about it.

I'm sure there are a million more details.  But I just can't remember them.  It's amazing how a week just slips by and I have a hard time recalling what went on.  Theresa always reminds me after I hit send.

Hi Mom,

Well my big news of the week is - fractured/bruised ribs!  On Wednesday morning, I did an endo on my mountain bike and landed hard on my bike.  The embarrassing part is that I was trying to bunny hop a curb and totally missed it - front wheel straight into the curb and me flying over the handle bars.  I was riding into work and managed to get back on my bike and keep going.  Then I had a flat half way in to add insult to injury.  I did make it work and was pretty sore.  I thought I could shake it off and went for another ride on Thursday morning (if the horse throws you - get right back on right?).  That didn't help at all.  By Friday afternoon I couldn't stand it at all - i would literally go to my knees in pain at times and couldn't breath.  So, it was time for a Dr's visit.  No spleen, kidney, liver damage - just ribs, which hurt worse of all.  After lots of ibuprofen, flexuril, and vicoden I can just about manage the pain.

I have a half-iron man triathlon next week :-(  We'll have to see how that goes.  I certainly couldn't do it today.  But maybe by next week I'll be healed enough that I can just do it at a leisurely pace.

Chloe has her new glasses now.  And Megan has a years supply of disposable soft contact lenses.

They both have filled their week with a mix of baby sitting, movies (Cars 2), shopping (school supplies), and just hanging out and sleeping in.

Theresa had a normal schedule of Tues-Thurs work at Calvary, Tues. girls night out and visiting with Grandma on Friday.  She's almost done with her book "The Help" - says it's getting really good now.

Work was a little crazy this week.  But it's good to have a job.  I've had two guys put in their resignation letters in the past week.  So, I'll be recruiting for 2 new positions to backfill them.

I've been following the debt debate a little.  I'm mad at them all - democrats and republicans.  It's just so much grandstanding and posturing - get on with it.  You know they will come up with an 11th hour deal.  It's all a mess.

Well that's all I know for now - and about all I can stand sitting and typing.

luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

Summer is flying by. I'd say we had a fun full week.

Cores, movies, swimming, shopping, sleepovers, playing for the girls.

Work, girls night out, visiting grandma shields for Theresa.

Work, workouts, stroke&stride, Tour de France for me.

We all went to the Rockies vs. Braves on Wednesday night. Franci gave
us free tickets down the first base line. Rockies won 3-2 in the
bottom of the 9th (of course we missed it 'cause we left early to beat
traffic :-)

I think I've watched at least some of everyday of the Tour. Yesterday
was the deciding day. Cadel Evans did the time trial of his life to
take the lead in the yellow jersey. He'll ride into Paris today as the
winner of the Tour de France. The first ever Australian to do so.

I had fun watching Darren Clarke win the open last weekend at the
Royal St. George in Sandwich, Kent. I think Theresa and I went there
in 1993 when Greg Norman won.

Yesterday was a great 60 mile bike ride with my friend Andy
Kellermyer. Trying to get ready for my half ironman triathlon in 2
weeks.

Both girls went to the eye doctor this week. Chloe ended up with
glasses for driving and school. Megan is now trying out contacts.

I finally got my permanent crown on Wednesday. It feels much better.
I'm still getting used to it but I think it will be just fine.

Megan got your birthday card! Thanks. And we got another letter a
couple of days ago. I really like the triathlon article from Men's
Health. I might use some of the tips in my coaching with Desra. The
911 article about Tucson's new system was interesting. Not surprising.
I don't think it's an Intrado system.

Hi Mom,

A quick update after a busy summer week.  I think it was a little hard to get back into the routine after vacation.  We had a lot going on so no rest.

The big event for today of course is Megan's birthday.  She's had a good celebration.  Clara came over for a sleep over last night and went to church with us.  After church we went to '5 Guys Burgers' for lunch.  And then home to open presents - a watch, a ball, some underwear, and A GUITAR!  She's been playing it non-stop all afternoon.

Yesterday was errand day to sort out all the presents.  We left it 'til the last minute.  We all went down to Costco for a hot dog lunch and some groceries and a cheesecake for birthday celebrations.  Then Megan played with Clara while Theresa and Chloe went to target and dropped me off at Robb's Music to shop for the guitar.

Theresa worked Mon, Wed, Thurs. at the church.  The girls went to Water World on Thursday with the youth group.  I had music practice Thursday night and played on the worship team today.

Well that's it for now.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

We'll be seeing you tomorrow but I figured I'd keep in the habit.

I worked from home on Thursday.  The girls and I got the car all packed up throughout the  day.  Theresa got home a little early from work and we were on the road at around 4:30pm.  We stopped at the Subway in Limon for dinner and pulled into the Comfort Inn in Colby at around 10pm with the time change.  They were pretty full.  We called along the way and reserved a king suite with a queen pull-out - it was all they had left.  We were all pretty tired and went to bed almost straight away.  The girls didn't even make it to the pool.  Great breakfast in the morning (sausage, eggs, biscuits/gravy, waffles, etc) and then hit the road around 9am.  We rolled into independence at around 3:30 or so.

Chloe drove most of the way out.  With Theresa taking a 3-hr shift on Friday morning.  I didn't drive at all.  It was nice to have chauffeurs.

We've been having a nice relaxing time here.  Not much activity really. The girls did the Independence Center on Saturday for several hours while we just relaxed.  Kenny's computer was on the fritz so we made a trip to best buy for parts ($100 worth of new memory) and it's back in working order.

We've had a pizza hut dinner, a spaghetti dinner (followed by Mugs Up root beer floats), and tonight is a roast dinner.  (Too much food - that's what you do on vacation right?).

I watched the first day of the Tour De France.  And I saw highlights of the Women's Wimbledon final (Kvitovah) and then today watched the last few games of the Men's final (Djokavik).

I've been up early both mornings for a bike ride and run.  The Little Blue Trace trail is a great great local trail.  I rode it from end to end for 30 miles.  Then I did a quick 8 mile run this morning before church.  You have to get it in early around here before it gets too hot and humid.  Although today has been a strange weather day.  Way cooler (80F) and rainy.

We went to mass this morning and out to breakfast at Denny's afterwards.  The girls, Kenny and I did a little bit of sight seeing just driving around today too.  We stopped at the cemetery and saw some Witthar plots.  Stopped by the Truman house and the LDS Temple.

We'll that's about it for now.  See you tomorrow.  I'm not sure what time we'll get away - maybe 11am or 12n.

luv u,

Jeff
