Hi Mom (and Dad, and everybody else),

Another week gone by.  What to report in on.

Lots of sports this week.  I watched a bunch of basketball and some football.  Saw Arizona lose to #20 Washington on Thursday.  Watched Colorado lose to Nebraska and Oklahoma.  And most of Kansas losing to Texas and Missouri winning big over Iowa State.  I record a lot of it and fast forward through most of it - so, I'm not really watching TV 24 hours a day :-)  I saw some of the Packers vs. Bears football game today too.

On Tuesday I took Chloe to see Boulder High vs. Fairview boys basketball game while Theresa was at girl's night out and Megan was at youth group.  The game was at CU's Coors Event Center.  It was a lot of fun.  Boulder won by 30 points including a slam dunk.

The girls all went to see "Country Strong" on Friday night while Theresa and I went out to dinner at Laudisio with Chris and Marlys Leitz.  I had spaghetti carbonarra - which was fantastic.

Dots got a bath yesterday.  He needed it - pretty stinky!

Chloe, Megan and I went out driving for an hour yesterday.  Good practice - she's doing really well.

Church today.  Afterward Megan went bowling with some of her friends and one of the youth volunteers.  Theresa and Chloe did some grocery shopping.  I wrote a reference letter for the Britton's adoption dossier.  Other than that - taking it easy.  I rented "The Social Network" for our movie tonight.  I'm looking forward to it.

I've kinda been following Rep. Giffords recovery.  It's amazing her recovery so far.  But still such a long road ahead.  Theresa and I watched the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams broadcasting live from Tucson a few nights ago.  They were moving Giffords from the hospital to DM to Houston.  It was cool to see everybody lining the roads for her.  And then they interviewed Suzi Hileman too.

I also watched fun raw footage on youtube of Michelle Obama surprising White House visitors:

That's about it for now.

luv u,

Jeff

PS I did finish "The Battle" by Arthur C. Brooks - interesting ideas.  It was a pretty quick read in the end.  Less than a 100 pages of content and good documentation and footnotes in the end.  I'm not sure what I'm going to read next.  Bethan Hughes sent me a book called "Bad Science" by Ben Goldacre and I've read the first chapter.

Hi Mom (and Dad and everybody else),

Whew - the end of a busy week.  Cozied in for the night.  Probably going to watch Date Night on DVD as our evening entertainment.

We even had more on our plate than I knew.  Chloe went to the Winter Ball at Boulder High on last night.  Of course that involved dress shopping (which I conveniently skipped out on).  The girls all came over to our house early to prepare then I took them to the dance around 8pm.  She spent the night at Bryn's house and I picked her up first thing this morning for church.  It actually worked out well.

Megan spent the afternoon at the mall with a friend.  Then they both ended up at our house for a sleep over.

I watch Mizzou lose again yesterday.  Terrible decision making once again at the end of the game.  It plagued them against Georgetown and now to lose a close one against Texas A&M - bummer.  I watched a little of the KU vs. NU game - that ended up being a close one.  And Colorado had a another good win against OSU (3-0 in the Big 12 for the first time ever).

I got a nice run in yesterday and a bike ride today.  The weather has been super warm.  It was 54F when I went out riding today.  A little sloppy with the melting snow but nice to be outside.  I'm fighting a little bit of a cold but I'm trying to sweat it out :-)

Theresa got sad news last week.  She was hoping for something more permanent at the church when one of the ladies retired.  But they ended up hiring someone else without even considering Theresa.  Ah - the politics of church :-)

We had fun at the Britton's poker benefit for their adoption on Friday night.  I'm not a very good poker player - but it was all for a good cause.  I think there around 50 people there.  And I don't know the total raised but I think it was over $2500 and then they had somebody matching it - so over $5000 raised probably.

That's about all I know for now.  I didn't get a chance to talk to Steve on his birthday - just exchanged Facebook messages :-)  Sounded like he was out deer hunting then watching the KU b-ball game.

I just read the Rep. Gifford's status was upgraded from critical to serious.  That's good news.  I did watch the president's speech from Tucson.  I thought he did a good job.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through "The Battle" - it's hard reading for me.  He's not a big fan of the University of Colorado or  Boulder, CO in general is he :-)  But he does make some good points.  I believe in free enterprise.

Okay - that's really it.  Cya l8r.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom (and Dad et al),

Sitting here on a snowy night.  We've had snow all day and it should continue through the night.  Probably 6-9" total when it's all said and done.  We've shoveled once today and will have more waiting for us in the morning.

I played at church this morning.  There was a new song, Our God by Chris Tomlin, that was really good.  Rockin'!  After church there was a middle school luncheon and winter semester kickoff.  I think I was at church for 7 hours today.  Probably an extra jewel in my crown for that :-)

I watched Kansas win a squeaker over Michigan in overtime today.  And then skimmed through the Eagles and the Packers game.

We had popcorn and movie night.  Diary of a Wimpy Kid was tonights viewing choice.  It was cute.  The trials and tribulations of middle school.  We also watched Iron Man 2 last night.  It wasn't anywhere near as good as the first one.

Yesterday we went to the CU vs. MU basketball game.  Not a fun outcome for Tiger fans.  But the Buffs fans were jazzed.  I owe a lunch to a work buddy on a lost bet.  After the game we headed down to Costco for a hot dog lunch and to pick up a few things.

Not much else exciting this weekend.  Chloe went to the Boulder High girls basketball game on Friday night.  Megan had a sleep over with Clara.

It was a long week back at work last week having to work 5 full days instead of the shorter 3 and 4 day holiday weeks.  Theresa worked at Sports Solution on Tues/Thursday.  She is back at Calvary tomorrow and the rest of the Mondays in January.

Next week should be fairly busy too.  BSF starts back up for me tomorrow night.  It's been a nice long break but I'm ready to get back to studying Isaiah.  It's been really good.  Theresa has girls night out on Tuesday.  Girls have youth group on Tuesday (Megan) and Wednesday (Chloe).  Megan has theater meeting on Tuesday for the Annie Jr. production.  Orthodontist appointment for both girls.  Chloe should be getting hers off soon.  And Megan should be getting them on soon.  I found out at the end of last year that we were all paid up for Chloe's ($5,600!!!!!).  Thursday night Theresa and I going to see a special presentation of an education documentary called The Race To Nowhere.  Then Friday night is a poker benefit for a friends adoption fund.  (Whew I'm worn out already just thinking about it).

That's all I know for now.

Luv u,

Jeff
