HI Mom,

Happy Mother's Day! to the best mom in the whole world :-)

We are just finishing up church and Theresa is selling some fundraising cards in between services. Then we are going to IHOP for brunch and open some presents (Downton Abbey DVDs and a Magic Drinking Bird).

We did a few errands yesterday and went to a couple of plant sales to fill our planter boxes. We've had lots of rain since last Friday. It's actually been kinda nice - cozy in & get the flowers watered. There was a little break in the weather yesterday where I got the grass mowed. The sun is starting to come out today. I put some more fertilizer on the yard and hung a wasp trap (we have soooo many buzzing around.  I also put the dividers in the planter and Theresa planted all the things we bought yesterday.

We've also watched several Netflix movies over last week. "The Great Gatsby" and "Into The Wild" were two books Chloe had to read for lit so we followed them up with the movies. Robert Redford almost 40 years ago - wow. And then "Into The Wild" is a little slow and hard to watch at the end.  We also watched "You Can Count on Me" with Mark Ruffalo, Laura Linney and Matthew Broderick - not very good.

Megan is healing up and getting back to practice. She was observing the week before and then started back practicing some this week. We got the emergency room bill yesterday - $1,995!  I don't think we owe much after insurance but that is amazing that it cost so much. No wonder our health care system is a mess. Unfortunately she missed a couple days of school in the middle of the week with a little stomach bug.

Theresa was up at Estes Park for the staff retreat Tuesday over night and all day Wednesday. They had a good time.  The girls and I went to Noodles and Company for dinner and then took a quick drive up Flagstaff mountain.

I booked air tickets and a hotel for Kansas City for June 8-9th to head back for Ken and Mona's 50th. It will be quick but fun.

I think there are only two more weeks of BSF left.  One more lesson tomorrow night and then the final pie social and sharing night next week.  We've covered a lot of ground - Acts, Hebrews, 1&2 Thessalonians, 1&2 Corinthians, Ephesians, James, 1&2 Peter and Jude.  It always good when the summer break comes around but BSF sure does make me study.  I'm also reading John Eldridge's new book "Beautiful Outlaw".  It's really good so far.  A pretty easy read.

My ribs are on the mend too.  Funny thing is my back really hurts now more so than my ribs - just from sleeping funny and carry my arm a little jigawarkardy.

The girls really appreciate the individual notes in the last letter you sent.  Thank you for that.  It meant a lot to them.

Have fun at West Point.  That sounds like it will be a great trip.  (I think you get Joe Biden for the commencement speaker - more fun than a barrel full of monkeys ;-\ )  The new camera sounds fun.  Take some good West Point pictures!

Well that's about it.  Back Sunday afternoon chores, homework and getting ready for the work week.  Only two more weeks of school!  Whew - I can't believe it.

Okay - I love you.  Happy Mother's day again.  I love you very much and am so grateful God blessed me with you for a mom :-)

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Mom & Dad,

A busy week as usual.  But then nothing really out of the ordinary either.  BSF, music practice, cheer leading, school, etc.

It's much cooler today.  After a couple days of record breaking heat - 88-90F.  It's been really breezy this spring too.  Seems like the wind is always blowing.

Fun to hear about your Grand Canyon trip.  Glad it all went well.  That's quite an accomplishment.  I'm not sure I could stay in a tent at my age :-)

Friday was fun for the Chick-Fil-A Leadercast.  I took the day off from work and spent from 8-4:30 over at church.  Lots of great speakers and a nice time to refresh and renew.

I made a pretty good effort at the yard yesterday.  Mowed the grass, edged, pulled weeds, raked the beds, etc.... it looks good.  But boy is that hard work.  I think I overdid it a bit on my ribs.  We had a filet on the grill last night and ate out on the patio.  We also watched War Horse last night.  It was pretty good.  Slow at times and all the WWI fighting scenes were too loud!  But all in all - a boy and his horse - can't go to wrong.

Theresa is off to the grocery store, Megan is having lunch with Clara and Chloe is hanging upstairs.

luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom (and Dad),

72 years young :-)   You are at the bottom of the Grand Canyon enjoying a steak dinner.  Have a good hike out and this email will be waiting for you.

We've had a quite a weekend.

Chloe off to prom last night with Corbin.  They went to dinner at Trattoria on Pearl St., then to the dance at the Boulder Theater and finished off at East Boulder Rec Center for the after prom.  She looked beautiful.

Equally exciting was Megan's trip to the emergency room this morning.  We were riding our bikes on the way to church and being silly.... when our handle bars got got and both of us did endos over the bars.  Needless to say we didn't make it to church, a quick x-ray later and a sling to take care of her AC separation.  Cheerleading will be challenging for the next few weeks but she should heal quickly and be back in business.

I have a couple of bruised ribs and some cuts and scrapes.

We are all home resting comfortably now :-)

luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom and Dad,

Another busy week under our belts.

The big event of the week was Theresa's big charity gala for Glory Community at the Arvada Center.  She was introducing Susan St. James and Dick Ebersol - as the church lady.  She was great.  It was a quick 3 minutes but a lot of fun.  Mark Randall (former KU grad and Denver Nuggets ambassador) was the emcee.  There was a cash bar, silent auction, fancy dinner, inspirational talk by Susan and fun olympic stories from Dick.  Dick's favorite olympic moment was Muhammed Ali lighting the torch in Atlanta.  We had a quick chat with Susan at the end of the evening.  They were heading with their good friend Mo Siegel (founder of Celestial Seasonings - Susan was an original investor in the company).  I mentioned Larry Potter's condo and business dealings in Telluride.  She remembered Larry well and said to let him know she was still alive and kicking!

We've had great weather this week.  Today was gorgeous.  I went for a 2 hour/40 mile bike ride today.

Megan had a lot of fund raising to do for cheer squad.  She sold 35 coupon cards for $20 each ($700 total) last week.  She got new cheer shoes today. That's just the beginning to the uniform.  Sometime soon they get fitted for their uniforms.  I don't even know how much that will cost :-)

Chloe has been taking ACT practice tests.  I think she is taking the actual test on Tuesday.  She wrote down UofA and KU for colleges she might be interested in.  Prom is next week.  Still sorting out the details for that.

I signed up for a leadership conference that will be simulcast from Atlanta to our church on May 4th.  It's the Chik fil A leadercast.  With folks like Tim Tebow, Soledad O'Brian, Patrick Lencioni, Marcus Buckingham, John Maxwell, Urban Meyer, etc.  I'm looking forward to it.

We are still making plans for Ken & Mona's 50th.  I think we are trying to find flights out Thursday night and return Sunday night.  We might find a hotel to stay at just so we are all crowded into their house.  Kevin and Charlie should be there too.

Well - that's all I know.

Jeff

Hi Mom and Dad,

Well the big news around here is that Megan Sherard made the Boulder High Varsity Cheer Squad!  She was so nervous.  Try outs were all week long, culminating on Friday.  And the results were posted outside the gym at 7:30pm.  We went out for frozen yogurt to celebrate with the Leitz's.  Clara made the team too.  Now the fun starts.  It's a 3-season sport with summer camps, bootcamps, games, etc - and all the expense that goes with it :-)

Everything else is a blur this week.  Normal work, BSF on Monday, music practice on Thursday, worship team and church this morning.

We've had crazy weather this week.  Beautiful sunshine and 70s to start the week.  Then could rainy/snowy to end the week.  We bought some more herbs and plants for the garden planters (in time for the frost :-) ).  I also finally got a new bbq grill too and it's been in the garage since we bought it.

I don't know what else is happening.  So, I'll end it here and if I think of anything else I'll write more (or call!).

luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom and Dad,

We are on Spring Break!  Wahoo.....  not going anywhere out of town but rather Staycation :-)  I have the week off from work, the girls are out of school and we are just going to play (unfortunately Theresa has to work Tues-Thurs).

Tomorrow we are going to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.  They have a special Lizards & Snakes exhibit and a Tornado IMAX movie along with all the regular stuff.  And then on Friday we are going to the Denver Art Museum to see a special Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective.  Those two are two things Theresa can come along with.

Then on Wed-Thurs while Theresa is working we are thinking about Indoor Sky Diving, Unser Go Cart racing, Celestial Seasonings, Butterfly Pavilion, Gateway Fun Park, movies, etc.

I did watch the KU game today in it's entirety.  Good win for them.  I hate to say it but I guess I'm supporting them now.  I just skimmed the rest of the games.  I did lose some of my interest once MU was out.  I read that Tiger Woods won today but I didn't watch that at all.

Megan has been working hard at cheerleading.  She's did a few workshops last week.  She and Clara are trying out together.  Chloe has been doing some cool art work/photography stuff.  I'll send a couple of things over to the Ceiva.

Last week was kind of drag with car repairs.  The Honda was leaking oil and needed the timing belt replaced.  Just a month ago we had it serviced for a bunch of other items.  In total we spend over $2800 :-(  I hate spending money on car stuff.  We were without a car for two days.  Our weather has been fantastic - so, I was able to ride my bike to work one day that we didn't have the car.  And then we just shared the Subaru on Friday.

We watched the Blind Side again tonight.  It was on TV and we just paused it through the commercials.  Great movie!

Well, that's all I know for now.  I let you know how the week goes with all of our activities.

Jeff

Hi Mom & Dad,

Whew - I had a busy, tiring week.  I worked in the office Monday and Tuesday plus BSF Monday night.  Then I flew to San Francisco Tuesday night for all day meetings at Oracle on Wednesday and Hitachi on Thursday.  Plus lots of wining and dining in the evenings.  I got home at 11:30pm on Thursday night.  And then a full day in the office on Friday.

Saturday was full of chores and errands.  Vacuum cars, empty/clean/refill hot tub, pick up poop, bike ride....  and then we went to a fundraiser in the evening for Laura Triem - my buddy's daughter who was hit by the light rail train (watch the video - it's amazing).  There was a silent & live auction, a raffle, live country band, food + drinks.  It was well attended.  I don't know how much money they raised yet but I thought I heard them say they were shooting for $25,000.

I played on the worship team this morning.  I missed the extra hour of sleep!  Then afterwards I took the vacuumed cars over to run them through the car wash.  And vegged out a little after that.  I took a dip in the newly cleaned hot tub.  Paid some bills and cleaned my desk off and got ready for the work week.  Tonight we had nachos and watched the movie "Courageous" - it was pretty good (a little cheesy at times but not too bad).  They had a preview for a movie I think you recommended - "The Mighty Macs".

I watched the selection show while paying my bills.  Looks like MU has a pretty good draw.  I was surprised to hear the selection committee think Missouri was the last on the line for the 2-seed (8th team overall).  That sounded like a little slight - but it doesn't matter, they are in and should have a good run.  How about those Buffs   I'll be filling out my bracket tomorrow too.

And now it's 10pm time for bed.  Where did the weekend go?

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom & Dad,
Another quick update.... And then off to bed.
We saw Julie and Stevie yesterday. We headed down to Denver when they had a break from the volleyball tourney. We hung out in their hotel for several hours and had a good visit. They played a few more games today and then drive back home. I think they are home by now.
I'm headed to California on business this coming Tues-Weds. Headed to San Jose to visit with Oracle at their executive briefing center to learn about their new technologies.
Megan was sick and stayed home from school two days last week. And Chloe caught it next and stayed home Friday morning.
Megan has been doing great with her volleyball. They played Friday after school and won. She is very competitive and gets mad when they miss a point or lose a game.
Well, that's is for now.

Hi Mom and Dad,

It's been a few weeks.  With the men's retreat and being on call over the president's day weekend I just didn't get my emails written.

I'm still gutted over the outcome of the big game yesterday.  I saw the tail end of the Arizona game.  They hung on against UCLA.  We had Jeff and Teri Markland over to watch the game.  Jeff M. usually has the Super Bowl party and makes amazing wings.  We invited him over to show us the secret recipe.  So we made a big ole pile of buffalo, lemon pepper and parmesan garlic wings.  They were so good.  Then we watched the game - it went well for a while.  Up by 19 pts. in the second half.  How did Mizzou manage to lose that game??  To add insult to injury, we were watching the game a little delayed on DVR and ran out of recording with 9 seconds left in overtime.  We missed the final to KU free throws to go up by 1 and the no-shot by Dixon/Denmon at the very end :-(  Oh well - you win some you lose some.  That surely knocks Missouri out as a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Fiddler on the Roof was great.  Those kids work so hard and put on a good show.  Theresa went for Thursday opening night. And again with Chloe and I on Friday night.  The show ran for 1hr15min straight without an intermission.  There was a big cast party on Friday night that went 'til 11pm.  I think Theresa ordered the DVD of the show that we can share with you when we get it.  Megan also had a volleyball game on Friday afternoon before the play.  She made it back just before the show.  Unfortunately they lost the game :-( They won their first match last week so they are 1-1.

We watched "The Ides of March" last night and are watching "Mr. Popper's Penguins" right now.  Both are pretty good.  We also have the red carpet and the Oscars taping for later tonight with nacho dinner.

Megan has a big project due of Friday - historical events that happened on the day she was born - July 17th.  Wild Bill Hickok killed John Kyle in Hays Kansas in 1869.  The Spanish-American war ended in Cuba after Roosevelt's rough-riders won San Juan and Kettle Hill battles in 1898.  The Royal Family changed their name to Windsor in 1917.  Disneyland opened in 1955.  Apollo-Soyuz docked in 1975.

And that's the way it was....

Jeff

Hi Mom & Dad,
Whew. That was a close one last night. Steve didn't want to talk to
me. A few questionable calls down the stretch but that wasn't the
decider - a miraculous 11-0 run at the end of the game was the
difference.
I'm playing on the worship team this morning and then staying after to
practice music for the men's retreat. I'll be guitar'ed out after
that. The men's retreat is next weekend. I'll probably leave early
from work on Friday and head up to Estes Park for the weekend. I
haven't been on a retreat for a while so I'm looking forward to it.
Good thing the big snow was this weekend and not next.
We ended up around 15" and had a lot of shoveling to do. But it was
pretty warm yesterday so most of the roads are already clear and dry.
We did errands yesterday to Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and Safeway
and didn't have any trouble getting around. Chloe spent the afternoons
diving around to a friends diving meet and then hanging at her house.
Eldora actually had to turn skiers away yesterday because the parking
lot was too full. Megan was kinda bummed that we didn't go skiing
yesterday.
Tomorrow night we have a college night for Chloe. Just basic
information on "The Admissions Game". I'm not sure what Chloe's long
term plans are.
Megan got accepted for open enrollment at Fairview High School. We
have 10 days to decide. I don't think she wants to go there now. Her
friend, Clara, has decided to go to Boulder High. So, Megan is
following her there to BHS. I wish she would go to Fairview. I think
it's a better school compared to BHS. But she really wants to be with
Clara.
I am fasting today until the Super Bowl so I can save all my WW points
to pig out on junk food. We were supposed to go to the Markland's
house for our annual Super Bowl party. But he just had knee surgery
and had to cancel because he just wasn't up to it. So we are having
our own little private party with buffalo wings, coon balls, chips,
salsa and guacamole. I don't really care that much about the game. I
guess if I had to pick I'd pull for the underdog Giants.
Well, that's all I know for now.
Luv u,
Jeff

Hi Mom and Dad,
We've spoken a few times is week so I don't have much to report.
Theresa and I are watching "Moneyball" on DVD tonight (in between loads of laundry). The girls are downstairs watching "Mean Girls".
The winter ball and sleepover went fine for Chloe. She followed through with everything she agreed too. I called the mom of the sleepover early in the afternoon to make sure it was all on the up and up. And then met the both the parents when I dropped Chloe off.
Megan had a sleepover too last night across the street at Whitney's house.
Theresa and I sang in the praise choir this morning. After church she went grocery shopping and I practiced music for the men's retreat. Megan had her second guitar lesson tonight at 6pm as well.
Good win by Missouri yesterday. Tough day for Kansas and Arizona. We did watch the end of that UofA game. Too bad!
Well that's about it.

Hi Mom & Dad,

We caught up a little last night so I don't have much new.

The girls are down at Flatiron Crossing looking for a dress for Chloe for the winter ball in Feb.  I'm kinda watching the football game in the background.

We didn't end up watching a movie last night.  We watched a reality tv show called 'DC Cupcakes' - they made a one ton cupcake to break the world record.  Then we all played one game of spite and malice.  I won  Then the girls played WII and Theresa and I went upstairs and watch an episode of Mad Men.

I've signed up for the men's retreat at Calvary Feb. 10-12.  It's the first time I've gone in many years (maybe 4 or 5 years).  I'm also helping out with the music.  Should be a good time.

I started doing my taxes early this morning.  I don't quite have all the paperwork yet though so I can't finish it.

We've had some amazing winds this past week.  Fences and trees blown down all over the place.  We lost a tile out of our patio table on the back deck that shattered into pieces.  But, nothing worse than that.  Other than that, just several nights of no sleep, and grumpiness the next day :-(

Well, nothing much else interesting to report on.  So I'll sign off.  Until next week!

Hi Mom (and Dad)
Once again I've left this 'til late and I'm running out of steam on a
Sunday night. So this will be short and sweet.
I watched the Broncos get pummeled yesterday. Oh well, it was a good
season. Earlier in the day I watched the Tigers beat Texas. That was
fun. We watched the movies Red w/Bruce Willis on Friday and Zookeeper
w/Kevin James tonight - both were pretty good. Theresa is watching
Downton Abbey Season 2 on PBS right now. She really enjoys it - don't
know if you've seen it.
I played at church this morning and Theresa worked. So, we were a
little disjointed. Chloe dropped Megan off for first service and then
drove herself back for second service. Megan walked home. Chloe has
been finding any excuse to drive everywhere. Basketball games,
lunches, friends houses etc.
We had fun at Bring It On The Musical. It wasn't very 'deep' but it
was up beat and positive and the girls really enjoyed it. We didn't
home and in bed until midnight on Wednesday - too late for me.
Other than that it was a normal busy week. BSF in Monday, I actually
hung out with a friend on Tuesday night instead of Theresa going to
girls night out, Wednesday was the musical, and music practice on
Thursday. Megan is going strong in Fiddler on the Roof - she told me
she has a solo as a Russian girl in one of the songs.
I got the part for the garage and it did the trick. Yeah! $30 and
we're back in business.
We are scheduled to return electric blue on Tuesday morning. It sure
has been nice having and I will be sad to see it go. With Chloe,
driving it's been nice to have 3 cars. I imagine at some point we'll
have to figure out something for her. Although I added her to our
insurance of an extra $800/year (compared to $1,200/year for BOTH
Theresa and I).
Well that's about it for now.

Jeff

Hi Mom and Dad,
Whew - it's been a hard, busy week after a lovely vacation. Tough to get back into the swing of things. Just the normal routine though.
Of course our big news is Chloe passing her driving test. She drove to pick up Megan from school and also to the BHS b-ball game on Friday night, out to a party in Erie on Saturday night, and then to Target today. Anything to just drive :-). Our garage door opener broke yesterday so that has been a real pain. I ordered a new circuit board off of EBay today for $30 that hopefully fixes it. It won't arrive until late next week. Until then we have to manually heft the door up and down.
I went for an eye exam on Thursday morning. I'm officially old and had to go buy some 'readers' from Walgrens. My LASIK is still holding up though - 20/20 far away.

Hi Mom,
One week to go. I was checking out the weather.... Good news, bad news
- I think the weather will be fine for traveling. But it's not looking
great for skiing. They don't make snow at Powder Mountain and it only
has. 15" base. Snow Basin has about a 37" base. But at least we'll
all be together :-)
We went to the Christmas concert at church tonight Theresa was a part
of the festivities. I'll send you a link to the video.
Now we are sitting here watching "The Help". I checked out all the
other movies you asked about and they are all too new to be on Netflix
or even Redbox.
I watched the Broncos today. Their luck finally ran out :-(. It wasn't
really Tebow's fault. They had too many turnovers and penalties.
Missouri was on too but they were in a blowout over William & Mary so
I didn't watch it.
Yesterday I spent all day in bed sick. A bad head cold snuck up on me
starting Friday afternoon. I think I'm kicking it just in time to head
back to work. But at least I have it out of the way before our trip.
I hope I haven't given it to any one else.
The girls are glad to be out of school. I'm finished with BSF for the
year as well. Theresa and I have to finish up our work week then
Christmas and traveling. Yeah, can't wait.
Well I'm going to sign off for now to pay attention to the help.

Hi Mom,

We've had a busy week. Monday BSF. Tuesday girls night out.  Wednesday Megan's choir concert. Thursday music practice. Friday CU vs. WY basketball. Saturday Christmas party. Sunday church day.   Whew. Sounds like a Carolie week.

Megan did great at the concert and at her audition for Fidler on the Roof. She didn't get 'called back' which the teacher said was a good thing. She'll find out tomorrow if she got a part. Fingers crossed.

Chloe has been studying hard for finals. They start on Tuesday with physics & math, Wednesday is history & lit., Thursday is photography. Then she is done. Off on Friday.

I have a new guy starting at work tomorrow. It'll be good to be fully staffed again. I'm a little nervous about training him since I'm still pretty new myself. But the rest of the team will help get him up to speed too.

The basketball game of Friday night was fun. Riley Grabau, one of the stars of the Boulder High basketball team last year ended up, going to Wyoming. So it was his homecoming. Chloe said we should go at the last minute. So just the girls and I went over and bought GA tickets (Megan got a free ticket from some passerby).  It was a pretty good crowd but we still ended up sitting mid-court pretty close down. Colorado really blew it and ended up losing pretty big. Riley didn't play at all. But it was still a good time.

Last night was a Christmas party at one of Theresa's friends house. An interesting mixture of church people and non-church people. It was a nice evening. Drinks, hors d'oeuvres,  and deserts.

Once again, I've watched a bunch of sports this week too. Missouri vs. Villanova  & Navy basketball... 9-0 and ranked #10 in the country. Army Navy game. Too many mistakes for Army. And then of course today - Tebow time. I can't believe how the exciting watching the Denver Broncos is with Tim Tebow leading them to victory at the last second. Today's game was incredible. You'll have to check out the highlights.

We just watched "Their eyes were watching God" with Hallie Berry  - an Oprah Winfrey made for TV movie. It's based on a book that Chloe has been reading for lit class. She needed a little refresher :-)

Well that's all I know for now.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

We've had a good week.  Ken and Mona went on their merry way on Monday after a great stay.  They made it to Salina and then finished up on Tuesday morning - home safe and sound.

Monday night was BSF - taking a detour from studying Acts into Hebrews.  That's some heavy sledding.

Theresa got the results from her Dr's appointment last Friday - all clear.  Whew - thankful for good health.

Megan has been preparing her audition for the middle school spring musical (Fiddler on the Roof).  She is going to sing "On My Own" from Les Miserables.  She also has a choir concert coming up on Wednesday.

We got quite a bit of snow on Thursday and then a lot more on Saturday.  Good for skiing - keep it coming.  Not so fun shoveling though :-(

Chloe went out to dinner and bowling with friends on Friday night.

Theresa is now working 1 day/month at church doing the administrative stuff that needs to get done before, during and after the services.  She went in this morning early for training.

I just finished watching the Broncos.  That Tim Tebow is amazing.  He finds a way to win every time.  I guess God is on his side and is a Broncos fan.  Explains why sunsets are orange and blue.  I've also been keeping up with Tigers basketball.  7-0 now.... wow didn't expect that after we lost our big man Lawrence Bowers and the new coach, Frank Haith, under fire.

I spoke with an old college/fraternity brother, Bob Kinton, yesterday.  He lives in Chicago now with his wife and kids (4 boys - ranging from 1st grade to sophomore in college @ MU).  He found a job lead at Vail Resorts and I know the recruiter there so I was able to put them in touch with each other.  We have kept in touch over the years but it was fun to have good long catch up on the phone.

Work is going well.  Still feel like the new guy with so much to learn.  But, I'm getting there and feel like I'm fitting in and starting to make a difference.

We are headed out to the mall here in a little bit to do some Christmas shopping.  Hope it isn't too crazy out there.  We've been getting into the spirit.  I told you I put up the outside lights on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  Theresa has all the thanksgiving decorations down now and the christmas tree is up.  She's got all the decoration boxes up from downstairs and is getting to those a little at a time.

Can't wait to be together after Christmas - only a few weeks away now.  We still need to get together with Julie to talk through food.  We'll figure it out!

Okay - that's it for now.

Luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

Just catching up after a good long holiday break.  I took Wednesday off and then Thursday/Friday were holidays for Thanksgiving.  So, It was a nice 5-day weekend.

We had a great time with Ken and Mona.  They got in around 12N on Wednesday and left this morning around 8:45am.  We watched a lot of football, played dominos, watched movies, ate and went on a couple of drives.  Thursday we ate around 2pm after Theresa prepared all day - funny to fix for 6 hours then to eat it all up in 10 minutes.  We watched the Greenbay/Detroit game on Thursday, Tigers/Jayhawks on Saturday, and Denver/San Diego + KC/Pittsburgh on Sunday.  Saturday night we watched Secretariat - good one to watch again.  On Friday we took a ride in the Prius around Boulder - new neighborhoods, church, CU, Boulder High, Centennial.  Saturday Chloe drove us up into the mountains - Nederland, Eldora, Ward - the roads were surprisingly snowy higher up.  We tried to head to the theater on Saturday afternoon to see "The Descendants" but it was sold out.  The girls stayed and saw "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" and the adults just went home.  Sunday morning I played at church for both services.  Ken and Mona went to mass at Sacred Heart then met up with Theresa and Megan for breakfast at IHOP afterwards.

The girls and I put up our Christmas lights and Angels on Wednesday while waiting for Ken and Mona to arrive.  It was almost 70F so it was too nice a day to pass up climbing on the roof.

Chloe and Megan also went to check out the black Friday sales at 6:15am. Chris Leitz picked them up with Clara and dropped the girls off at Target first.  Then Marlys took them from Target to Flatiron Crossings Mall from around 8am to 1pm.  They were wiped out.  They came home with some finds but I don't think they were overly enamoured with Black Friday.  I guess they just had to experience it first hand.

Everybody is back to the routine today. Theresa had some doctor appts down this way today so I met up with her for a hotdog lunch at Costco.

I'm sure there are a million other details too but....

luv u,

Jeff

Hi Mom,

Nothing much to report on here....

Theresa has been a busy bee cleaning for Ken and Mona's arrival.  We are excited that they decided to come out for Thanksgiving.  I think they will drive on Tuesday, stay the night somewhere and arrive on Wednesday - and then depart the following Tuesday.  I think I might try to take Wednesday off to add on to the Thurs/Fri holidays.

Looks like mixed results on our football teams UofA, MU win, KU, CU, Army lose.  Missouri Basketball tonight on TV against Notre Dame.  I've got the DVR set up for that since I have BSF tonight.

I played on the worship team yesterday.  And Theresa helped with Operation Christmas child afterwards.  Megan went to 29th street shopping with Clara and then to her gymnastics meet - she was gone from 12-9pm.  Meanwhile, Chloe slept all day.  I guess she was just wiped out from school and now has the thanksgiving break to catch up a little.

Don't know much more than that :-)

luv u,

Jeff

More Weekly Email

Hi Mom,
A few things I didn't mention in my weekly update....

Reading all the news about Gary Pinkel getting busted for a DWI :-(  Oh dear.  I have to say he handled it well.  Took his punish, was sincerely apologetic and assumed full responsibility.  Missouri needs a win or two against Texas Tech and/or Kansas.  They've had an uneven year.

Also, Theresa and I watched the 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer on Gabby Gifford.  AMAZING!  Wow, what she's come through in 1 year.  We really enjoyed watching it - laughed and cried and were inspired.

My friend who's daughter (Laura Triem) was hit by the light rail train is going through serious brain trauma.  They had to open up both the left and right side of her skull to release pressure and they are fighting some infections.  She is in an induced coma.  But they have moved her out of ICU so that's positive.

Well - those popped into my head and I thought I would write with a quick update.

We were in last night with Megan (Chloe went over to a friends house) and watched "That Thing You Do" - fun movie!  Not sure what we'll get up to today.

Luv u,

Jeff
