Weekly Email

Hi Mom,

Less than a week to go before we head to Missouri. I'm ready for some
time off and good family fun. We have Miguel lined up to take care of
Dots and the house. We'll leave Thursday night and stop somewhere in
Kansas for the night (Colby? Hayes?).  Theresa has to work all day
Tues, Weds, Thurs. So, packing will be a challenge. I think I'll work
from home on Thurs. and obviously take Friday off.

Summer is flying by already. I like the longer days and warmer temps.
We've only had to turn our A/C on a couple of days so far. Good for
outdoor swimming, biking and running. A couple of warm nights make
sleeping more difficult.

Well, we all went to see Rock of Ages musical yesterday in Denver at
the Buell Theater. Not very good :-(. We were all a little
disappointed. It just wasn't written very well. The story was
contrived and forced. The music medleys and mixes were strange. The
casting choices and character development were weird. And most of all
it was inappropriate. Oh well, Happy Mother's day. We should have
chosen Billy Elliot.

The girls have been down to Elitch Gardens Amusement Park with Shanna,
Whitney and Foster Lawless. The had a great time and I'm thankful to
Shanna for being willing to take them I don't enjoy that at all.

Both Chloe and Megan had babysitting jobs - making good money.

And of course sleep overs. Megan at Witney's and Chloe at Hailey's.

I had a team building activity with my group at work.  We went out to
lunch and saw a movie (Super 8 again).  They all enjoyed it and I
didn't mind it a second time.

I had to make a visit to the dentist. Ended up getting a temporary
partial crown. Which fell out. So, I have to go back on Monday. And
then again the end of July to have the permanent one put it. All for
$1250!

I had a great fathers day. Did the tri in the morning and did pretty
well, nap, cards/presents, watched golf, massage, steak dinner,
homemade angel food cake.  Not bad!

Wednesday was bike to work day. Thursday I did the stroke and stride,
from 6-7pm, then raced off to music practice from 7-9pm.

Theresa had her first full week of just one job at Calvary. She
trained a replacement at Sports Solution a week ago Friday and bid
them adieu. I think she is a little worn out working 3 x 8th days in a
row.

Church today. We started a new verse by verse study of 2 Corinthians.
And of course playing on the worship team. When I dropped Chloe off
for her sleep over last night in Erie I swung by the new church
property and took a few photos (they are probably on the Ceiva).

We did watch a couple of DVDs last week too. "Never Let Me Go" - a
little bit of a strange sci-fi movie with Kiera Knightly - don't
recommend. And then "Freedom Writers" with Hillary Swank - it's an
older one and really good. Also "Running The Sahara" - a documentary
about 3 guys running across the Sahara desert. It was really good and
fascinating. I think it was around 4,500 miles, done over 110 days
(equivalent to 70+ marathons). Through several countries including
Libyia.

We've also watched a bit of Wimbledon. We're not too interested in
many of the players. But it is fun to see the grass and the crowds and
London and the rain.

Well that's about it for now. See you in about a week.

Luv,

Jeff

Subject: Weekly Update

Hi Mom,

A quick early morning update before I head out the door to swim.

Thanks for the anniversary card.  We got it on Friday - but saved it until Saturday to open.  23 years - and still going strong :-)  Hard to believe.  Time flies when you are having fun.

We didn't do anything extra special or fancy on Saturday.  Theresa went up to Estes Park with Megan and Laura Prill for the day to check out the Wool Market.  They enjoyed themselves.  I hung around the house doing chores and then went for a bike ride.  Chloe was baby sitting most of Saturday on two different jobs.  12-4:30pm and then 6-11pm.  She had a sleep over on Friday.  So she had a full couple of days.

Our big anniversary night out was going to see Super 8 (with Megan tagging along too).  That was really good.  So well done.  The attention to detail on the era (late 70s) was amazing.  And of course the storyline was fun and crazy.  Classic Spielberg/Abrams.  I highly recommend it.  We had a romantic dinner of popcorn, nachos, hot dog and soda at the theater (for $35!).

I did my first Stroke & Stride out at the Boulder Res on Thursday night - placed 4th in my age group and 27th overall.  The 5430 Sprint Triathlon is this coming Sunday (on Father's Day) so it was good to have to open water swimming practice.  It's always a fun night.  Megan and Clara came with me.  And we had a free pizza dinner provided by the race organizers after the race.  Clara spent the night.

We do have Miguel lined up to watch Dotsero over the 4th of July weekend.  So, we don't have to bring him along or worry about boarding him.  That's always a relief when we get that sorted out and Miguel is so good at a looking after the house and the dog.

The girls are jealous of Alex's new dog.  They keep looking at the humane society web page and think we need a new dog too.  NO WAY!

Yesterday we had a good day at church.  We closed on the new property out in Erie.  So, now Calvary Bible has 11 acres to build on.  I'm not sure when they think they will start building.  The price of the land was $685,000 and they raised $661,000 in tithes to pay for it - only had to finance $24,000.  Amazing!

We went down to Kohls after church and did some clothes shopping.  We had some good coupons combined with regular store sales.  I think we saved over $350 (we still ended up spending $300).  After that it was hanging out and getting ready for Monday, the work week, and whatever else we get up to.

Happy Monday.

Luv u,

Jeff

PS We did watched "Black Swan" last night.  Oh my.  We didn't like it very much.

Hi Mom,

A hot Sunday coming to an end.  I think we got up to 90F today.  It's made us all a little be lethargic.  So, we've been lying around lounging, watching tv, napping.  Theresa has managed to squeeze a few loads of laundry in.

We did make it to church this morning.  The girls volunteered to do child care for the worship team folks.  Since it's summer the regular child care/Sunday school is scaled way back.  We did a few errands while waiting for the girls to finish up.  Target and Home Depot.  I really need a new grill and a new lawn mower.  But I'm not ready to pull the trigger yet.  They both can be expensive items.

We had Brad and Laura Prill over for dinner last night.  It was adults only - the girls were out on another baby sitting job.  We had fajitas. *and* strawberry/rhubarb pie for desert.  It was all excellent.

Outside of babysitting the girls have been enjoying the lazy, dog days of summer.  Staying up all night and sleeping all day.  Oh the life of a teenager.

Theresa is now officially an employee of Calvary Bible Church.  She got an offer letter last week to do 24 hours a week - tues thru thurs.  Job sharing with one of the other girls.  She had to tell her other employer, Julie @ SportsSolution, that she wouldn't be able to work there anymore.  I think it was kinda hard because they have a rhythm going there and Theresa has been a big help.

I think we are thinking of leaving Thursday night, June 30th to head to Independence to start off the 4th of July week.  We'll stay with Ken and Mona until Monday the 4th and then head over to Steve and Julie's.  We have to drive back to Colorado on Friday the 8th.  I have a race that following Sunday and need to pick up my packet on Saturday.

I have an intern starting at work tomorrow for 6-weeks.  He is part of the 'I Have A Dream' org that provides mentoring opportunities for disadvantaged youth.  It should be good.  I'm gonna work him hard :-)

I saw a little baby fox out on my bike ride on Thursday morning.  That was a fun encounter.

I guess Alex Sherard has a cute new puppy from Angie's dog's litter.  (shhh - i'm not sure steve knows or approves)

We've watched 'Burlesque' and caught up on our 'Friday Night Lights' tv series this week.  Tonight I think we are going to watch 'The Switch'.  Theresa has been enjoying watching the final Oprah shows.

We'll that's all I know for now.

luv u,

Jeff
